World Habitat Day 2025

October 6, 2025 is World Habitat Day, designated by the United Nations to recognize the basic right of every person to adequate shelter. This year’s theme, Dignity through Shelter, reminds us that safe, affordable housing is the foundation for health, education, and opportunity.

Habitat’s Global Impact

  • Since 1976, Habitat has helped more than 62 million people worldwide build or improve the place they call home.

  • In FY2024 alone, more than 3 million people gained improved housing conditions through Habitat’s efforts, including training, advocacy, and partnership

  • Over 910,000 volunteers supported Habitat’s mission globally last year.

Palouse Habitat’s Local Impact
Here at home, Palouse Habitat for Humanity works across Latah and Whitman counties to:

  • Build affordable homes with families in need.

  • Provide accessibility through our Ramps & Rails program.

  • Operate the Palouse Habitat ReStore, where every purchase and donation supports construction and keeps usable materials out of landfills.

Safe shelter is more than four walls — it’s stability, security, and dignity. On this World Habitat Day, join us in building homes, communities, and hope right here on the Palouse.
