Palouse Habitat update for July 26, 2021 with recent build site picture of long-time volunteer, Tom Gooch, putting down subfloor adhesive on the Hansen home in Uniontown:
Construction/Home Repair Update:
Good morning all;
There are three scheduled work days this week.
Wed 28 July: We will be working in the South Warehouse starting at 0800, constructing wooden ramp modules. All are welcome – special skills and special tools are not required. Come by and help, even if you can spare only a couple of hours. Lunch on our own.
Thurs 29 July: Work starts at 0800 at the Uniontown build site. We’ll be working on both the Leaseburg home (interior – painting, interior doors, baseboard) and the Hansen home (cutting studs, starting framing). Lunch will be provided thanks to Christina Mangianpani.
Sat 31 July: Continue work at the Uniontown build site starting at 0800. Lunch on our own.
The forecast is for continued hot and sunny weather. We’ll continue to monitor both heat and air quality; please dress appropriately, stay hydrated, use sunscreen, etc, and take rest breaks when your body says to.
Looking ahead: next week we expect to “skip” Thursday 5 Aug and work on Friday 6 Aug, when we expect a number of United Way of Whitman County and United Way of Moscow/Latah County volunteers.
Surplus Sale update from Eldon Hodges, the store manager:
The “Christmas in July” sale is winding to a close, and we moved some stock out. We hit our goal for sales for the week, so all things considered, I consider it a success. We fell behind in picking up donations over the weekend, so there will be some make up work to do. I could use some help on Tuesday with a trip to pick up some donations. Thank you all for the hard work you put in! It makes this whole thing work!
The Surplus Sale will be open this week Wednesday-Saturday 10 AM to 5 PM at 304 North Main in Moscow.
The Palouse Habitat office is open 10:30 to 2:30 PM Monday to Friday. Some staff are working remotely.
